Our Fabric Guide

A guide to our organic fabrics

At Little Green Radicals we make clothes that last from beautiful organic cotton fabrics. Cotton comes in many different forms and we take great joy in using lots of different weaves, from woven yarn dyed seersuckers to soft natural jerseys. These fabrics all have a luxuriously soft hand-feel making them wonderfully comfy for your little one to wear. We hope this guide helps you choose the right fabric for you and your little one.

Poplin Cotton

A durable woven fabric that’s been brushed to give it a soft feel. We love this fabric as it takes colour so well. You can find poplin across our collections, on light summer dresses as well as on winter snowsuits as a durable outer layer.

Double Cloth Cotton

This is a light and airy woven fabric, which makes it a great choice for the warm summer months, or pair with a snuggly layer underneath.

Recycled Polyester

Our rainwear collection is made from a recycled polyester fabric that comes from recycled bottles! This fabric is 100% waterproof so it will keep out any rain or showers and will stop plastic ending up in landfill.

Corduroy Cotton

Cord that’s so soft it feels like velvet! This fabric is really comfy for little ones to wear but also hardwearing enough for everyday rough and tumble play. The little ridges are known as 'wales' - these help strengthen the cotton and give it soft bounce, which results in the 'velvet' look and handfeel.

Ribbed Cotton

Our rib fabric is beautifully soft and stretchy, making it amazingly comfy to wear. We’ve designed our rib to be both 100% organic cotton and long lasting, so it won't loose it's shape or colour, and will come up like new wash after wash.

Brushed Cotton

Our winter weight woven cotton has been brushed to give a really soft, almost fluffy handfeel that will keep little ones nice and snug. Colourful yarns are woven together and then brushed up to give a super soft touch. We use brushed cotton for cosy dresses, shirts and comfy classic fit pyjamas.

Shepa Cotton

This soft and fluffy fabric is not just beautifully warm, it's also breathable which will keep your child comfy. When cotton is harvested, little pieces of leaves or bark get attached to the cotton. As we want to keep our cotton as natural as possible and not treat it with any nasty chemicals that aren't kind and gentle on your child's skin, you might notice tiny specks in the fabric which are characteristic of cotton in its natural form.

Interlock Cotton

Our organic interlock is not your average T-Shirt fabric. It’s lovely and thick, and very soft to touch, so it’s a fantastic fabric to wear with short sleeves in spring or during a typical British summer! For autumn and winter, we add long sleeves to styles made from this fabric, or use a double layer for extra warmth.

Twill Cotton

Twill is a hardwearing woven fabric that's great for outdoor adventures! Twill is an ancient weaving technique used to produce durable fabrics that has little diagonal patterns across the fabric. It's light enough to wear for spring and summer or can be worn over layers in the cooler months.

Slub Jersey Cotton

Slub jersey is a knitted, soft, breathable fabric that's perfect for keeping them cool in warm weather. Slub jersey has a textured, natural look with little ‘strokes’ in it which looks beautiful when coloured with organic dyes and gives a light summery look to the fabric.

Seersucker Cotton

Organic seersucker is a lovely summer fabric constructed by bunching threads together. The styles we make using this fabric often have a nostalgic feel, which isn’t surprising given that this fabric has been used since the 1900s! Un-dyed Cotton

Our natural collection uses an undyed interlock cotton which is luxuriously soft to touch. This cotton is undyed, so is perfect for those with sensitive skin. We only use 100% GOTS certified organic cotton - find out some of the reasons why >
